Join Tomiaki Tamura, Arcosanti resident and associate of Paolo Soleri for a discussion of Arcosanti, Soleri’s architecture, and his forgotten Tucson masterpiece: the Arizona Cancer Center Chapel.
Tomiaki Tamura began his association with Paolo Soleri in 1976. Working first as an apprentice, he became an assistant to Soleri at the Cosanti Design Studio and developed a plan for the Arcosanti Critical Mass. In 1983, he moved to Arcosanti to coordinate the planning and construction of Arcosanti. In addition to being a Cosanti Foundation's senior management staff, he served as the director at Soleri Archives at Arcosanti, occasionally curating Soleri exhibitions, coordinating Soleri-related publications, and speaking at various institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. He holds an architectural degree in his native Japan and a master's degree in Environmental Planning from Arizona State University. He is a co-author of books and articles in architecture and art journals in the US and Japan.
