2020 Home Tour: Six Epic Ranches Northwest of Tucson
HISTORIC RANCHES TOUR AND VIP COCKTAIL PARTY ARE POSTPONED
As you may imagine, it has taken us several years to arrange and coordinate access to the collection of properties for our Historic Ranch home tour. We remained hopeful that by the nature of our event, an outdoor tour of historic ranch properties with ample opportunity to observe social distancing, that our tour would be able to continue as scheduled.
Recent decisions by local authorities, however, have forced us to postpone our tour and VIP cocktail party. The City of Tucson has recommended postponing events with expected attendance of 50 or more persons, and the Town of Oro Valley has cancelled their sponsored events at Steam Pump Ranch, the location for map distribution for our tour.
Following guidance from City, County, and State health officials on when larger events may resume, we will be working with our ranch owners to reschedule the tour of Historic Ranches and VIP cocktail party.
THPF depends entirely on the funds raised from this Home Tour to operate our organization. We would appreciate your consideration of the following options for your current ticket(s):
1. Hold the ticket to use for the rescheduled event(s)
2. Convert your unused ticket(s) to a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation
In the next few days, you will receive an email from us asking to confirm the disposition of your current ticket(s). Tax donation letters will be issued for tickets converted to tax-deductible donations.
As always, we sincerely appreciate your interest in and support of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation as we work to save Tucson’s heritage, cultural resources, and protect our shared past.

An extraordinary collection of historic ranches northwest of Tucson will open their doors for the first time to support historic preservation in our region. The annual tour, organized by the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation (THPF) will highlight six exceptional examples of Arizona ranches from the early 1880s through the 1940s in Tucson, Oro Valley and Oracle. This tour is a rare opportunity to explore some of the region’s most iconic epicenters of Arizona’s ranching era and discover a legacy that has helped define the style of the Southwest. This is the first time THPF has presented these individual properties on its annual home tour.
The Historic Home Tour fundraiser will take place Saturday March 21, 2020 from 9 AM-4 PM, with all proceeds benefiting the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation. This one time event includes live music, art and history. A pre-tour VIP cocktail party will take place Friday March 20th with special tickets available for purchase.

INFORMATION FOR HOME TOUR TICKET HOLDERS
Please arrive at check-in at your selected ticket time. We have extended the tour hours to ensure there will have ample time to visit each of the six homes on the tour. Check in at Steam Pump Ranch: 10901 N Oracle Rd, Oro Valley, AZ 85737. Look for the Home Tour Signs. Many of the Ranches on this Tour are in and around Oracle and are approximately 20 min drive north from Steam Pump Ranch.
Please have your digital URL code ready or bring the print-out of your ticket for faster check-in. If you are unable to print your ticket we will have your name on our list at the check- in.
Ticket holders will receive the official tour booklet, map, wristband and shoe covers. Your wristband is your entrance ticket. No one will be admitted to any of the homes without a wristband or shoe covers. The properties are scattered north of Steam Pump Ranch to Oracle and you will have to drive yourself to each home. Parking instructions will be on the map. Because the tour is self‑guided docents will be present at each house to share the history and significance of these remarkable properties. You may see the homes at your own pace from your check-in time through 4:00PM.
ACCESSIBILITY
This tour requires walking long driveways, up hills, stairs, and on irregular surfaces. We will have limited golf cart shuttles for those need additional assistance. Because these private homes are historic and most over 100 years old, there are irregular surfaces, dirt drives, stairs, steps and narrow doorways. As a result, access for the disabled is limited. Our docents will be as accommodating as possible and offer assistance, but most parts of the tour are not wheelchair accessible. Many homes require a traverse of a long driveway or steps. Transportation between locations is not available. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and sunscreen. If you are unable to walk between houses, there is very limited street parking near each of the properties with remaining access will be down long dirt driveways.
