Exhibition: Charles Clement – Designer Craftsman at the Bondante House
Event Details
Explore the work of artist, designer, and sculptor Charles Alfred Clement in this special exhibition presented by Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation within the newly acquired Bondante House, an important mid-century residence designed by Clement in 1956 for his sister-in-law Mary Bondante, her husband Aldo and their two children Peter and Christine.
Charles Clement – Designer Craftsman celebrates the Foundation’s preservation of this architectural landmark and examines Clement’s wide-ranging creative practice — from sculpture to architectural design and painting. His work reflects a refined modernist vision shaped by craftsmanship, experimentation, and a profound connection to Tucson’s postwar artistic community.
The exhibition is free and open to the public during Tucson Modernism Week, offering a rare opportunity to experience Clement’s work in the domestic setting he conceived. The Bondante House will also serve as home to the Modernism Week Bookshop, featuring publications on architecture, design, and regional modernism.
